 One
My band and I were planning on playing One by Metallica at this local thing called Guitar Jam (or something along those lines) and I took a listen to the song and began to practice it when I noticed something. Dduring the part after the chorus that leads up to the guitar solo (before the double kick section) is it just my ears or did Lars actually do something creative and switch up the snare onto the 1 and 3 part way through the bridge?
For all those that can make sense of what I am saying, I salute thee.

He probably got off time accidently but it sounded good so they kept it.

While I completely agree that it's most likely on accident, the snare does turn around a couple times in the song. It does wind up being a nice touch to a great drum part. That, my friends, was the last good (and in my mind great) Metallica album.

The last time Lars actually had a decent performance too....

Ya I generally won't notice things like that unless if I'm trying to cover a song.

But he also thinks he's a lot better drummer than he is. So it evens out.

are you crazy?!?! he is by far better now than he was. he is way more creative now. just because their "old" stuff was "better", doesn't mean their "new" stuff isn't great in a different kind of way.
the difference now, he has learned over the years and became more creative. plus he looks back and saw that he really sucked when he tried to show off so he doesn't show off anymore.

It could have been entirely on purpose.... If you listen to heavy stuff, people always do off-beat and switching stuff
