ive always wanted to try taking 2 14in crash and useing them as hi hats.
is it a good idea or just a waste of time?

has anybody eles done this? if so what does it sound like?

I did it with 16's for a fixed open set. sounded really good

Nothing is really a waste of time until proven so, try it.

I know for sure that the right mix of crashes works because I know of a professional drummer that use two crashes as hats.

if you use a tick rock crash as the bottom and a thin crash as a top it will sound nice.

i was thinking of going with a z custom on the bottom and an a custom on top.
i already have an a custom 14in from an old friend of my who gave it to me because he had no use for it.
