tHEY ARE...
I SAW THESE AT NAMM 08' THIS YEAR...THEY ARE SWEET! I DIDN'T GET TO PLAY THEM, CAUSE' THE YAMAHA REPS WERE SHOWCASING THEM TO ALOT OF STORE OWNERS, BUT I OWN A ROLAND TD20-S RIGHT NOW, AND I AM DEFENITLY BUYING THE EXTREME III SPECIAL KIT....WELL WORTH IT!!

Is it a problem that they have gone down the rubber pad route as opposed to the Mesh heads?

I dunno, Steaky. I've seen some vids on Youtube, and they can do a lot of pretty cool things, plus the sensitivity seems pretty good.
It's also likely that Roland's trademarked the Mesh heads, too.
