 AAX Rides
O.K., I am in desperate need of a new ride. I was looking for a Sabian, and it needs to be appropriate for most settings from rock to jazz. I was looking at a 20" AAX dry ride. Good/Bad? I am looking to spend between $200-300 dollars.
Thanks for any input.

I have not played the Dry Ride, but I've heard great things about them. My stage ride is great and versatile enough for all the different styles you listed.

personally I think you should look at the hh rides over aax. the hh rides are more versatile imo and the slightly darker tones just work better, for me at least. I have a 21" hh raw bell dry ride but it's not the greatest jazz ride....for everything else though I love it. Maybe just an hh medium ride would work for what you need.

That also sounds good. I'm be going to a big music store in a couple of days, so i'll be able to hear 'em live.

Yeah man try them all and have fun bangin on stuff. I've always wanted to try some HHX, they seem to have the projection of the AAX but still contain a lot of the darker elements of the HH. They're all great cymbals, you just gotta see what you like the best.

I've found my 21" AA Rock Ride to be extremely versatile. It's a bit on the loud side, though.

What I like about my stage ride is that the ping is really quite quiet. Which is great for jazz stuff. But if I'm playing loud rock or metal or something it crashes great, and the bell really projects well too. It's great for quiet and loud music. But you've got to change how you play it depending on the conditions.

That sums up every instrument on your kit.

I was considering replacing my HHX groove ride with an AAX cuz my crashes are real bright, so it doesnt blend well, but it kinda of grown on me. SO maybe later, i'll get a AAX ride, but for now my HHX ride is good. is the ideal of a ride supposed to be darker than the crashes??? or are they supposed to be all bright, or all dark?
