 AAX=good sounding garbage!
I broke another one, this time a huge chunk of the cymbal flew off, pic soon, I love the sound of these cymbals, but they can NOT take a pounding. on the plus side, the now broken cymbal has a very unique sound to it, its almost a light swishy gong sound. anyway just wanted to vent!
by the way if anywone knows of a cymbal with similar sonic characteristics but can be thrashed upon let me know!

I'm wondering if there was mabe a defect in the cymbal, because I agree with you that it sounds like my technique sucks, mabe it does, but this cymbal had a large chunk break off, I've never seen anything like it, it didn't just crack, it Broke.

It must be your techinque cause have friends that beat the hell out of
them and they dont brake how do you usally hit the cymbal?

i actually think it maybe a defect
xplosions are quite thin arent they.
I think it was a weak metal bond and maybe a little bad tech on that

Get on saiban.com get a customer care helpline and see what they are gonna do about it. I have a REALLY thin paiste 8" alpha splash which has cracked all around the middle hole. That was due to it not being protected from the metal of the stand. Have you got felts and everything inbetween wingnuts etc.?

there is no other damage to the cymbal save the chunk missing.

usually I hit downward striking the cymbal about 1/4 inch from the tib pulling through the cymbal. The last aax i messed up was because I had the wingnut too tight and cracked the hole in the bell (gave it away to a friends kid) i don't keep my wingnuts tight anymore.

Jeez, did you hit that thing with your pedal? Instead of playing through a cymbal, hit it with a swiping motion. When you play through it it goes down and eventually hits the wingnut. Then it can't go down anymore, you might as well have someone holding the cymbal with both hands while you smack it with the stick.

never play through the cymbal. thats what broke it, not a defect in the cymbal.
