I have been through many auditions and have a huge one coming up this Tuesday with an Agency Cover band that makes alot of money. Im going to compete with alot of really good drummers in the Philidelphia area. Wish me luck!
Anyway, I just wanted to say that for all you guys just starting out in the biz, here are a few pointers:
1. Dont over play! Play what is needed and no more. If your good enough you dont need to play everything you can in two songs to stand out.
2. If your trying out for a cover band try and play each song note for note. And if the band members ask you to switch something like a certian fill, try it. Maybe they do it differently.
3. Be ready to not play things note for note. Alot of cover bands put songs into medlies. So be on your toes.
4. Be yourself! Just like dating a woman, a band will find somone else if you end up being a dick, lol. No matter how good you can play!
If anyone wants to add more, please do so.
Of course I will tell you how it goes and if I get the gig. Wish me luck!
