Actually I used quarters on mine for the past few months and it does separate the quicker double bass. I did switch back though, mainly because (to quote Unearth's drummer) I'd rather play something that sounds good to music than just play fast for the sake of playing fast. As much as I want to learn speed/extreme drumming, I'll stick to the simpler double bass.
