 Best Beat Of All Time
This is going to be a weekly series about what I tihnk is the best beat of all time, a new beat every week!
First is Breaking Me Down-Soil.
Even though the beat is somewhat simplistic, the drummer makes it sound much more complicated and the feel he executes it with just makes the song flow extremely well. The hi-hat accents he is so fond of are a great touch to this perfectly executed beat.
Any opinions/comments you guys would like to share?

Led Zep When The Levee breaks was my first choice, but just to throw something else into the mix, Stevie Wonder Superstition!

Levee is the first thing that pops in my head. It's just unbelievable on so many levels, from the feel to the production. Also on the Bonzo tip, Fool in the Rain forced me to become a better drummer. 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover is also way up there. Of course there is Chameleon too, anything off of Aja....I've got to stop or I won't think about anything else today.

Dang! You essentially mentioned both beats I was going to mention: 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover, and the Purdie shuffle Purdie plays on that Steely Dan song off Aja, the name of which escapes me at the moment. Good post!

I agree.
I worked real hard to get John the Fisherman down.
I would say 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover.

Let's Stay Together by Al Green. That song has gotten me more happy endings than any others combined.
