Post blisters
I have been drumming seriously for about 8 years now, and I have never had a blister this bad. Does anyone know what to use for blisters? I have tried super glue, and that doesnt work, and I am currently using a special bandage tape that I got from a doctor when I broke my hand. Just wondering for any help. Thanks.

I've used athletic tape for blisters... it obviously doesn't make it go away, but it makes it less painful to play with it.

do you mean to allow you to keep playing, like just a cover? or something to help them heal.

for healing, i use climbing salve. joshua tree climbing salve, to be exact.

i used to tear my hands up climbing, and that's what this stuff is designed for. i transferred it over to drum blisters and it works great. i can't practice that consistently, so i get blisters a lot, but the climbing salve helps heal them quicker so that i can play again sooner without worrying about them.

use duck tape over the area that is blistered of course it does not heal it but it's slick surface does cut down the friction and allows it to heal and protects the skin. the best thing to do for a blister is drain it with a needle and let it heal..

Whenever I get callouses that tear off or I have not played in a while, I just wrap some electrical tape around the area until I build the cllous up again

You might need to look at your technique.

I used to get blisters whenever I played, my hands would cramp up and I would find it hard to get through a night's worth of playing.

About ten years ago, a local drummer introduced me to a technique called the "Gladstone" technique that literally changed the way I play. You can find it outlined best at Tiger Bill's website:

There's way more stuff to check out as well.

Basically, it's all about staying relaxed while you play and letting the stick do it's share of the work. It took a while for me to get used to the concept (old habits are hard to break!) but now I can play just as hard and I never get blisters! I can go for twice as long and I don't feel anywhere as fatigued as I used to.

Check it out. It sounds cheesy, but it will change the way you play.
It won't happen overnight, but it will happen...!
