 Bow
I took a bass bow home from work and used it on my cymbals. It sounded pretty eerie, which I liked. Before this I would rub the stick on the ride at 90 degrees to make a screech, but the bow is cool too. I've also been using it on a Large LP Flexatone. Pretty awesome.
Anyone else use a bow for something other than strings?

sabian makes a cymbal made for using a bow. it sounds really cool. something a little differant with the finish to give the bow better contact with the cymbal. rosin that up and go to town.

On a more serious note, has anyone ever used or seen that Sabian bow cymbal?

Felter, Jimmy Page was famous for using a violin bow on his guitar. Just FYI.
I've never heard of using a bow on cymbals, that seems odd.

this has been used for years and years now. cant believe it stayed under the radar so much. guess thats why its so hard to find the actual cymbal sabian created for this years back.

Just trying to take a stab back at Rockula. Well aware of Jimmy Page and his various unorthodox techniques, though I was sarcastic about it previously.
Anyone screech the cymbals with their sticks??? I first saw this at a Charlie Hunter Trio show. Derrick Phillips is very dynamic and the whole band is just "in the zone" for the entire show.
