Word. I've always dug that kind of stuff. How do you get a good bass tone?

tone doesn't matter all that much. you get the bass feel by holding a bucket between your feet and slamming it down for the right beats.
i love bucket drummers. every time i'm in NYC i make sure to hang out in Grand Central Station for a little while to hear em.

Just another style of drumming that is fun. Love to watch them! Who says you have to spend alot of money? Talent comes in many forms and fashions. Peace and respect!

I think the bass comes when the bucket is completely down on the ground. But they also use their feet to lift the bucket... So i am not exactly sure. So true about talent. You either have it or you don't. I believe they could probably make a great living if they didn't spend the money on substances.... Seems on a good day they could make 100 dollars an hour.

the tone is lower when you lift the side of the bucket up. i've played around with this myself. its pretty fun. theres a vid floating around here somewhere of a crazy dude ripping it up on buckets in NYC.

i've seen some bucket drums in seattle. some of them are amazing. i've seen some guys with crazy speed but making awesome beats. and they had different buckets ranging in size so they could get some different sounds and stuff. super cool!

wow, this is an awesome topic. I have been doing this for about 3 years now, buckets I mean. I live in charlotte nc. I have a partner, him and I we hit all major events in the city and hustle them on buckets. we do events like big concerts, basketball games, nfl games, etc... anywhere there is going to be drunk people leaving with cash in their pockets. we do about an hour at a time and walk off usually with anywhere from 100-500 bucks per event. You have to get more than one bucket, use one of them with the bottom side up and hit the center with the lip tilted up off the grand just a bit for bass and use another bucket right side up and use the rim for snare or downbeats. although, if you are not funk or hip hop oriented, you will not be all that good at it. if you are just rock or jazz, etc.... its not for you. You gotta have a little soul to do it, but I think I have just as much fun doing buckets as drums.

 bucket drummers
I like the guy from Boston. Way creative than the rest of the ones on video. I personally like them since they look easier to transport. And they cost less. Just don't let Pearl, Tama or any of the major drum makers get any big ideas about making their own buckets with better sound.
