The Toca Vryheid Djembes harken back to the freedom “vryheid” struggles of the South African Zulus. Toca Vryheid Djembes have wood shells carved by skilled artisans that are given up to 20 coats of teak oil, and then hand-painted with a tribal design. A traditional goatskin head delivers authentic sound, and special low-stretch alpine ropes with braided cores are used to ensure stable tuning. The 10″ and 12″ models deliver especially powerful and rich bass and all models produce sharp, cutting slap tones.
