Yamaha’s Stage Custom snare drum offers an excellent solution if you’re looking for a new snare drum sound. These snares blend birch, mahogany, and falkata woods, producing sounds that jump out with powerful attack and fat mid-range. All drums include 1.6mm triple flanged hoops. The 5″ x 14″ and 5″ x 13″ feature 8 lugs; the 5″ x 12″ and 5″ x 10″ have 6 lugs and a side tom mount that allows for easy placement for secondary snare applications.
I own the 5×10 and the 5×12. I use them often to play live and their sound is often complimented. One thing I felt necessary was to change the snare wires and ofcourse top and bottom heads. High quality snare wires seemed to improve the sound of these small snare drums. I really like their side mounting feature.
