The Zildjian A Custom Projection Crash Cymbal was developed in response to requests for the heavier, louder volume needed in rock settings. The Zildjian Sound Lab created the Projection series cymbals with the assistance of Vinnie Colaiuta. Zildjian A Custom cymbals are made using radical rotary hammering techniques, thin weights, and a striking, brilliant finish.
I own the 18 inch version, I am on the fence about this cymbal. If you are looking for a traditional crash sound then this is not a good cymbal for you. I use it as a crash ride, It works amazingly if you plan on having a few beats of this cymbal. If you do a lot of cymbal work (multiple crashes or accents) then this is a good cymbal. It gives you a good base on which to build your accents.
