 Changing cymbal sound
Is there any way to make old crap cymbals sound better or different, such as rivets etc.

Depends on the cymbal and what you mean by "crap". Cleaner and/or polish will sometimes brighten the sound and help sustain but if they're chipped and busted up it can be a different story.

polish the shit out of them. if that doesnt work, and the cymbals dont mean much to you. hammer them. i'v gotten some great sonds hammering my cymbals. i hammers 2 broken paiste signatuer full crashes into chinas. and they sound great. i still use one of them on my second set.

Hammer them. Good call. If it's a cheap cymbal, and you already don't like the sound, give hammering them a shot. What have you got to lose, right?

Hmm. Now that's an interesting idea.
What kind of hammer did you use, xdoseonex?

I've got loads of old cracked cymbals, I'm pretty intrigued on hammering them myself too!
