Post Classic Double Bass Song
Coming out not too long after Slayer's Angel Of Death, Judas Priest released a song similar in structure in that it heavily relied on a straight double bass beat to drive the song forward, this song was known as Painkiller. With Judas being at the front of the metal movement I'm surprised that this hasn't been mentioned as a classic double bass song, it was also the debut of their new drummer Scott Travis.

Well here it is, enjoy.

One of my favorite Anthrax tunes......used to play it in my old band and it was a blast. Charlie's not doing anything too intricate on the double pedals...but it's a great "running" song!

lol Yeah its new to me to but im getting used to it. I like more high pitched stuff with a tone that flows with the music but the growls are pretty brutal.

I like a mix between growling and screaming, growling just gets so repititive to me.

I'll listen to the music, but it won't get me as hyped up as much as something like hardcore.

One of my faves:

"Domination" by Pantera- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTR-tePa0Bg

Not the fastest db in the world, but Vinnie does such a great job, and it's got some cool changes in it!

Note: Not work safe, language.

I like fast double bass...but the whole "look at me..I'm so fast thing" gets old for me. I'd much rather hear someone do some tasty double bass fills...than "run a marathon" on the pedals. Smile

Check this out. I thought it was awesome that D.Rod could totally find a heavy groove to put in heavy music.

He's an outstanding drummer, but after watching the whole thing I'm still waiting to hear a groove. It was all chops.
