Post Converting a regular kick bass...
to a suspended Bass or Gong bass.

are there any kits to do this, or is it a more fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants thing?

thanks in advance!

Any rim style mount, for a bass drum, I've seen has been custom.

Most just use the tom holder hole, mount that to the rack with a cut off tom mount pipe. Seen in the image below.

Bass drum gongs are a dime a dozen.

well thats cool except that my BASS is 22", and wont fit in any of those, the idea for using the tom mount is intrigueing I just wonder if it would hold the weight of the bass drum tilted at an angle.

Is this what you're trying to do?

I just used tom stands. The bracket arms fit into the spurs where the BD legs go. REALLY easy.

Well there you go! The L-rods from the tom stands fit perfectly in the spur hardware on the bass drum.

When you remove a head though, be sure to take out the metal parts that hold the tension rods on the headless side or it will rattle every time.
