Custom snare drum i built this year...
Im new to this forum.. ive been playing around 9 years.. earlier this year i decided to build myself a lovely wooden snare... heres a picture:
10 ply vented, trick GS007 throw off, Black offset tube lugs..
not bad for my first build, just need to work on my finish, not quite shiny enough
Im building a whole kit once i have the money
What do you think?

how do you go about building your own snare?
do you just buy all the parts seperate and put together?

yeah i brought the shell, lugs screws etc seperate, then measured and drilled all the holes and vents, then spreyed on the finish and assemble it

(In Borat voice) Very nice. How long did this project take you? It looks like fun but I have neither the time nor space for an undertaking as such. In other words, I am jealous.

i remember i blue printed my own drum set that i would build. depending on how ur gunna go about and do ur drum building project i figured that i'd save around 2 grand from building my own keller shelled drum instead of buying an expensive DW made drum set. But then i found Tama's Starclassic Bubinga set and now my outlines and blue prints are in my fireplace... the downside to building your own stuff is u might screw up and waste a perfectly good shell. i think that's the only down side.
