Hahahaha, what?

Um... Try a nice cymbal stand with a boom on it.... If that doesn't work, i dunno man. Booms solved all my problems. You can get some decent ones (nice and heavy, with like a 12-16" boom) for about 60-100 bucks.

Or if you like your current stands, you can usually buy just the boom for it for pretty cheap.

Try different types of stands and place them where they work the best. You can also look at using clamp on's for your lighter slashes and other effect cymbals. Try different placements until you find a set up that is comfortable. I have used the same set up for my basic crash and ride set up for years and adjusted as I have added. Good luck.

Well, If you dont want to spend alot of money on just stands. The PDP 800 boom stand is good and solid for crashes but I would go with something heavier on the ride cymbal. I just bought one of the PDP boom stands, their pretty good for only about 46 bucks. the postion great, and can defiantly hold some weight.

Post MY BEST SOLUTION IS THIS.
PUT YOUR TWO CRASHES(MAIN) ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES OF YOUR TOMS. USE A BOOM CYMBAL STAND FOR THESE BECAUSE YOU CAN EXTEND IT MORE. PUT YOUR RIDE ON THE RIGHT, USE A STRAIGHT.

I think it's worth mentioning that cymbal set up seems to be kinda determined by how you set your drums up..... if you have your toms at a steep angle, it often seems that the cymbals follow. I tend to have a very flat tom setup which means my cymbals fit the angles my toms are ( i.e pretty flat). That way, I don't have to change my hand position or technique to move around the cymbals or play quickly etc. It helps me to flow better. A good test I use is to see how easy it is to play a double stroke roll all the way round the kit..... if my toms and cymbals are setup nicely then I can roll round the kit pretty randomly. If not, I notice pretty quickly!

I mostly use a kinda trad jazz setup.... I have a crash on a straight stand to the left of my tom partially (but only just) over the tom..... the ride to the right of the tom (on a boom) .... and my other crash on a boom that stands over the right portion of my ride bell. I have all my cymbals set as low and flat as possible. In a way, you can kinda imagine the ride replaces the 12" tom.

If I'm using a 5 piece kit, I have two crashes set over the 2 rack toms as low as possible (about 6-8 inches above the toms), the ride sits over about a third of the 12" tom and a crash over my floor tom. for the extreme left side, I use a couple of splashes.... one roughly where an 8" tom would go and another level with the top of the high-hat pull rod. i agree with triganomic, it just depends on what music style your going with, like me i play in punk metal band. and so i like to crash every cymbal i have so their all relativly flat. but its also worth mentioning if your playing what i am do have your cymbals either very low or bent at some angle because hitting it on the rim will eventually lead to cracking and lets all face it that just a nightmare.

but yea just invest in boom stands they solve every angle and postioning problem you can possibly imagin.
