what do you hate about drumming and/or drummers?

i can't stand when drummers try and play fast metal beats, when they can't hold a solid two and four beat. learn the basics!!!

I hate drummers that aren't diverse. They might be able to play extremely fast but they cant slow it down. Drummers that are closed minded, that don't want to try anything new.

Lazy drummers! That Guy/Gal who just comes in with sticks (if even that) and depends on everyone else to bring in what he will need. Can't stand it! I went to a show at CBGB's and this drummer didn't even bring his snare, cymbals and a stand! Laaahhhzzzieeee!

Post I dislike.....
....wraparound drum fills!!

Ditch the second rack tom and get some creativity going.

I also don't like drummers who try and kill their kit. IT's like someone who screams at the top of their lungs. You can listen to them but it gets old real fast.

Or going to the drum shop and there's always "that guy" who is wailing away at top speed, playing a beat that they can barely pull off....if you're gonna play in the drum shop at least do something that sounds good!

i cant stand unprepared drummers...i do sound and i get so mad when drummers come without essentials ive had drummers ask me for drum keys! how hard is it to put one on a key ring and keep it on your key chain....and drum rugs, drummers never seem to have drum rugs.

death metal drumming (the drum blasts). I don't understand why one would play them for more than ten seconds! Seems like such a waste of talent.

i hate drummers who seem to think less is more. people who will show of about having less toms and cymbals because they seem to think it makes them more talented coz theyre making a beat with less drums. the fact is to make a beat any of us should only need 1 drum or the end of a table ANYTHING i think that closed mindedness is stopping people from playing as good as they truly can. i like having a veriety but then again my bands music is multi cultural.... i have 2 rack toms and 2 floor toms that simply means i have more range of tone when im playing fills or w/e else, how can anyone say its coz im not creative enough so i need more drums to make up for it???!!!! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Mad Mad Mad

Exclamation EGOS! If you got one leave it at the door! The music has better things to worry about. Ive been a drummer for 20+ years Ive work and sessioned with Berkley drummers never going there myself and have played with big bands like Faith no more and the Bare Naked Ladys and each of at least thoes two shows proved my point and that we should be there for each other and the people we work with and doour best and nothing else. Wink

I can't stand drummers like half of you here who are nauseously ignorant and whom feel the need to not only start a thread on pet peeves but to perpetuate it further with your bullshit subjective opinions. Who the hell cares what you have to say? Seriously? I believe in having an opinion but going so far as to saying how much you "hate" another style just to make your style look more admirable or worthy and deserving is beyond me. You guys sound like a bunch of eighth graders. Get over yourselves.

drumming pet hates.

1. When you go to a gig as the headline or main support band and the opening bands drummer has a kit that is the size of a small house and needs building control to ok the scaffolding of the rack system - then takes an army of people 15mins to dismantle the kit giving the next bands drummer a generous 5mins to set up.

2. Same scenario as above but the opening bands drummer somehow "forgets" his entire kit (except a very nice pair of axis longboard kick pedals) and asks to borrow all of your drums, cymbals and hardware. Big no no.

Jeez talk about a small world! I was listening to your band about 2-3 days ago when i got told you guys were playing The Alma.
I cant remember who your playing with, but i know alot of the local metal guys have the above problem but you'llget as long as you need to setup from my experience with them as promoters.
