It's going to be good quality. It may not sound that great though. Is it new? Haven't ever heard of it.

I think you're talking about the Ddrum, "Golf ball" snare drum. Here's a picture.

It costs 129.00 theres more than that in parts. At the worst, if the holes are too small, it will sound a little poofy. .

i highly doubt they're using the high quality dicast hoops you're thinking of.
i bought one of those cheapy ddrum 13x7s as a back up / practice snare and that had dicast hoops on it... i also owned a really nice dw snare with dicasts and there definitely was a difference in quality (not to mention, sound.)

maybe not cheap... but different. like i said, i noticed a difference between the ddrum and the ddub...
maybe the difference i noticed was how crummy the ddrum sounded...

Yeah If you noticed a significant difference in sound between a dw snare a ddrum snare, I'd say it wasnt the hoops

Yeah If you noticed a significant difference in sound between a dw snare a ddrum snare, I'd say it wasnt the hoops
oh yeah... i figured as much there...
but there was something about the hoops that struck me as "not as nice" as the ones on my dw.

There are low quality "die cast" hoops out there. They suck.

I have played it. It was at the local music store when I ordered my new snare. Neat little deal. Not bad for the price, probably sounds good with a decent head and higher tunning than the music store had it at.

if ddrum made 1000 drums they would need 2000 hoops. if you ordered 2000 hoops, i bet you would not pay $50 for each one!

to take that one step further, if you were making the hoops, you would pay even less than you would if you purchased 2000 from someone else.
