Post Evans Coated Reverse Dot
I gotta say.. last night we did a gig and i wanted to try the Evans reverse dot on my snare.. Guitar Center told me Evans stopped their original line and changed it and now sells the new line which looks like a coated EC2 with a silver ec2 style dot underneath.. I was friggin blown away at the sound i got from it.. i'm constantly experimenting with different snare heads and i'm definitely sticking with this one. Never got this kinda sound before and believe me.. i tried every head under the sun. Especially under the mic. Strongly recommended to at least try it.

Yeah I own that two and the sound is unbelieveable. You get just the right amount of crack tone, and resonance out of your metal snare drums plus all the fury an power you would expect from Evans.

I want to try one. I play a very tight remo pinstrip with zero ring, and love my sound, but it could be better. Oh, also my snare is a steel Mapex.

I'll have to try one of these.
Remo makes the CS with the black dot underneath and I liked those.
Who knows...I might like it better than the Emperor X.

I used to use a coated pinstripe on the snare...that was fat.

i bought a couple of these and they sound and look great... the only problem i have with them is that after one 45 minute set, the silver dot started falling off.

it's done it all three heads i bought.

and after 45 minutes of playing? not too awesome.

The Evans EC Reversed Dot Coated Snare Batter Head has a good sound for Rock. I switched over from Remo to Evans within the past 18 months. I like the head, it takes a good beating. I would recommend something thinner and coated for recording though, such as the Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head. It is not going to last a hard hitter very long, but would be better in the studio. For the road, the EC Reversed Dot will save you a lot of money.

Is that becaue they tame some of the overtones? I tried the EC heads and found them to be a bit "dead" for my tastes. The EC snare head looks pretty cool though. At the moment I'm using HD heads on my snares, but I always like the extra support from having th reverse dot.

Really???... I've used mine for three gigs now ..about 3 hour sets each..nothing fell off... that's weird.
