I've been a drummer for over 12 years now and just moved to NJ from CT to be closer to NYC and seeking session work and students. My roomate is an awesome audio engineer and I can basically record whenever I want. Basically, i want to put together a CD of my playing but I'm unsure what to include. I'm mainly into 'good ol rock n roll' but I can play jazz and funk styles proficently. I figure a disc of me wailing solos is boring and won't cut it. I have many musician friends who'd be willing to play (guitar, bass, keys, etc.) if nescessary. I've had about 15 private students in CT the last 7 years or so AND also taught my hometown's Marching Band Drumline (7 drummers at once!).
Any ideas, anyone???

Put together a CD of you playing different styles and name the tracks by the style. Advertise anywhere you can, get business cards, take them to clubs, studios, music stores...anywhere that has music. and flood the internet with your presence.

Thanks Timekeep69- that's sort of what I had in mind. The only thing I fear is that the disc will sound unfocused, but for this application it'll give me broader appeal.
Any other ideas still appreciated....
