Well, to be able to play double bass and blast it's just repetition.
For actually becoming an actually good metal drummer, it's a lot of things.

yeah... i really wasn't being sarcastic... staying relaxed will help you not only speed up... but be able to maintain it for longer periods of time

Definetly learn to relax, and repitition is key. start out slow.
Set a goal for yourself, start out at a slow bpm......when you master it, step it up.
Play along to your favorite songs.
USE A CLICK TRACK
and use these to warm up...

Relax. Start Slow. Build up.
I once saw a thread or something somewhere which told people to stick at a speed that you can handle for 60 seconds. gradually increase your speed. before trying this, do about 60 seconds right foot then the same with your left foot. go as fast as you can to warm up both feet. Don't start out trying to go as fast as Joey Jordison at first. You gotta buld it up.
Once you have that downpat, then start your blasting (man I love that name). About yesterday I started to properly be able to blast. I just did alot of right hand hitting the snare then would match the speed with my left hand. once they're both fairly even then i just start blasting. I always warm up now.... I seem to be getting faster to

those roddy exersizes'll have you basting up lightening storms if you accually do them properly. besides that, just practice single stroke strokes around your kit for long periods of time.Death metal is VERY single stroke oriented. some of it is litterally only that. singles between the hi-hat and snare and then singles down the toms. Its gonna be pretty much impossible for you not to see an inprovement
