i know after a while, guitar strings lose their "tone"... do drum heads do this same thing or do they keep a good tone until they break? and also how often should i change the heads, batter and resonant for toms, snare and bass>?

It all depends on how hard and often/long you play. The harder and longer you play the more often heads will need to be replaced. When they're hard to tune and/or sound like ass, they need to be replaced. There's really not set time limit.

Yep if they have obvious dents in them then it's to the drumhead graveyard with those heads!

The more eavenly tuned the head, the longer it will last.
