Hey lads and lassies! Right now I am fixing the wrap on my Pearl Export EX bass drum. I have a feeling that in due time I am going to have to do the rest of my drums. The problem I am running into is the damn adhesive! I have to pry the stuff off using a screw driver and a hair dryer. It works, though is a little barbaric. I am wondering if any of you have run into this problem, and what you have done to take care of it?

Also, is there an adhesive solvent/remover than is safe to use on wraps? One would think that there would be one out there on the market that would be safe to use, but I don't even know where I would start.

If you have any advice you could pass down, I would be VERY grateful and appreciative.

Use a scraper. Are you trying to re-use the wrap? Chances are it won't be re-useable if you have to use the scraper/heat gun method.

Solvents will seep into the wood. If you can try to stay away from them.
Use a good flat scraper.
If you're NOT going to save the wrap, the hair dryer works well, but it's still a slow process. You can go to home depot & get a piece of rubber hose (pipe insulation) about 6 inches long or so, to slip over the end of the dryer, it'll help add more heat underneath the wrap as you pry it up.
