Post Help with DM5 pro (and dm5 module questions)
I have the dm5 pro kit from alesis, I got it so i would be able to play drums in my dorm at college without much trouble. I cant however for the life of me stand the bass drum pad. I cant play worth a turd on that thing. I can play fine on my real drums back home and my practice kit for my band. Is there anyway to adjust the head of the pad or the pad itself in anyway to make it feel more like a real bass drum? and if not. is the dm5 module compatible with other brands of trigger pads? (if so is there any not terribly expensive other bass drum trigger pad i could buy that would feel better?)

Try replacing the mylar head on the pad with a mesh pad for a more natural feel.

I would buy the pearl 8" mesh heads and give them a try. You can order them at any Pearl dealer. That's the cheapest route. Let me know how it works I've been thinking about getting rid of the cheap mylar heads on mine as well.

I just picked up a couple of Pearl mesh heads for my Alesis. The action and noise level on the pads are not significantly different from the stock mylar heads because of the triggers being encased in some kind of styrofoam pads underneath the heads. I'm hoping they will be more durable. For under 8 bucks per head it is worth the gamble.
