Post Help with more power behind my gravity blast
ive been practicing gravity blasts for about a year now but when i play them while matching the bass drum with the snare and hitting my high hat all at the same time, i can barely hear my snare.

do i just need more practice? is this normal? is my technique wrong? everyone says they get better everytime they see me play them but im getting frusterated that its not breaking through everything else. ESPECIALLY when im playing it with the whole band.

any suggestions on a correct way to hold my stick would be much appreciated. i feel like i hold it a lot like this guy

Increase the Earth's gravitational pull?

Seriously, try putting your index and middle finger on the top and hinge it that way, with your other fingers and thumb further back on the stick. Keep it nice and loose.

Alternatively, you need a snare that cuts through. Do you have that problem with any of the rest of your kit play?

Look at this guy do some gravity blasts towards the end of this video, that's pretty much how I do them:

Watch that video and see how easy the guy makes it look... basically because it is once you've adjusted to doing it that way.

I used to put my thumb on top of the stick, but found this faster and louder.

Big metal snare, with vents in it.
