Post hi-hats mounting
hello guys,

just a simple question. how do you mount your hi-hats? i mean how tight is the top hat.

i am asking this because i haven't mounted one so far and i need a little indications. tomorrow i'll buy my first kit ( i am not a beginner drummer, it's just that i haven't mounted hi-hats so far). so could you help me out please? even a video tutorial will do great.

thanks a lot

Well, assuming you have all the equipment and a hi-hat stand, its really easy, place the bottom hat over the rod, and onto a felt thats covering the tilter (you may not have a tilter, but if you do, its usually a black thing that the bottom hat rests on) then slide the thing the top hat goes on ( i dont know what its called but its got a wing nut on it to tighten it to the rod) through the top hat with the wing nut above the cymbal, make sure their are felts above and below the top hat, then their should be one or two discs above the top hat that are used for tightening the hat, the tighter you make it, the less movement the symbal has, the looser it is, it has more movement, they both have slightly different sounds, feeling, sustain, and react differently when struck.
