 Im incredibly honored
The patriarch of my family has bestowed the musical family herlome upon me. Well if you can read that chicken scratch, what I am trying to say is My uncle is giving me a 140 year old German Violin that has been in the family for 4 generations.
I don't know what to say other than " I will preseve it and take care of it". I hope that some one in the family will carry the tradition after me. I Violin player would be nice instead of a dirt ball drummer. Or is it dirt bag? I forget.

Man keep that shit is a fireproof safe, part of my great grandmas house started on fire about 10-15 years ago and she lost most of the vintage accordians, harmonicas and a snare drum that she use to play in the 20's

Don't play drums with it ...
140 years old violins can be quite valuable instruments. I'd suggest to have it checked somehow and then put it in a nice dry safe.
The owner of the house I live in is a pro cellist. Do you have a name of that instrument? I can ask him about it. hehe Old instruments of that sort have names ..
btw check out the new apocalyptica album if you are into this kind of stuff. Features Corey Taylor in a song.

You are extremely lucky and honored. Keep that piece of history and art well protected and stored. I bow to your magnificence.

I told this hot chick that comes to my restaurant that I'd sell it and take her to the Bahamas. I was kidding.
Looking into insurance and safe storage. Thanx Billy. My DAD, God rest his soul, told many stories of this instrument. I'm the only musician in the family. My Uncle has three children and I'm getting it. I'm in Awe. Thing's worth A ton of dough. I look at it as family history intrusted to me. I feel up to the task.

Thats very cool. I'm sure you will take very good care of it. A few years ago my family finally entrusted me with an ornamental sword that has been passed down.
I too have Sicilian blood.
