 Internal drum Lights!
So I was dragged, kicking and screaming, to go see the Red Hot Chili Peppers some months ago, and while the musical snoozefest had me heading for the beer gardens in a hurry, Chad Smith was playing a kit with internal drum lights! Everytime he hit a drum, it would light up. It was cool as fuk! So I did some searching and found http://www.airsoft-x.com/percussionlights.html
Has anybody used these and do you know how well they work? Obviously it'd be cooler if you had an acrylic kit, but i'd still love my kit to light up everytime I hit it!

Eh the only time these are ever really cool is when you hook them up to the kick drum and go hardcore double bass.... Strobe lights are way better for that though.

He's not using an internal light. Chad is using a new wrap called CeeLite that has the lights built into the wrap (covering) of the drums themselves. There's nothing inside the shells at all. There are light-emitting capacitors built into the wrap.

my dad has a 1970s green vistalight and he has them in his set with black heads. and chrome hardware. with black cymbals. Its a actually pretty sick looking kit. If I could get a pic on here I'll load one up.

The Cee-lite wrap hasnt been made available to the public yet, boo! But that video is probably the coolest looking drum innovation I've ever seen.

Hello guys, I was just looking at my referral links on where people come to my website from and this page came up. Just wanted to say hello, I'm Derek Pearcy, the inventor of the Pearcy Drum Light Kits, which you gave the link to up top. Our main site is http://www.PercussionLights.com and I have drum light kits available. They are units that actually go inside of the drum and use a regular 60 watt bulb. These types currently work best with snares and toms, since I've not yet perfected the device to work horizontally on the kick drum. I will offer some special deals to anyone from the forum here if you are interested in getting a drum light kit. Email me at jumpin_12@hotmail.com for more info and put "DRUM LIGHTS" in all caps in the subject title. Thanks!
Derek Pearcy

I received one of the internal lights from Derek today; I'll check it out and share my findings if anyone's interested.
