i have always thought that the supraphoincs have been good sounding snares. it has good demensions and all that for a good sounding steal snare. that is what mine is. on steal shelled snares i have always went with a super thick head on it and cranked the piss out of it. i mean, like premier tendura on the batter and a standard glass resonant on the bottom.if you didn't want to go that heavy an evans powercenter reverse dot would be my recomendadtion if you want it to crack or an evans hd dry if you want it sound super sweet. that is what i have on my wood shell snare and it sounds amazong when it is tuned up. but either way with a snare like that, no matter how you tune it as long as you doa decent job, and with what ever head you put on it, i think that it will sound good. hope this helped!
