my band has opened for the Germaican Scout - they're pretty big in Europe as far as ragga/dancehall/reggae is concerned

as of yet...I've never opened up for any national acts. But coming in October will be my first, opening up for Krisiun, Decapitated, and Abysmal Dawn.

wow some of you guys have scored some pretty big gigs, how do bands actually choose opening acts, or do they not have any say in it?
curious because when I saw the who last summer there opening act SUCKED and we booed them off stage. ive never liked booing bands but they actually sucked and were really offensive and obnoxious.

The headliner can pick who opens. If they don't have a preference, they leave it up to the venue to find openers. Usually a local band that has a good draw.

In the late 80's and I was 18ish, we opened up for:
Anthrax
Dark Angel
Death Angel
Kreator
SOD
Fates Warning (twice)
Phantasm
King Diamond
Mercyful Fate
Bloodlust
JFA
TSOL
Also, 5 years ago opened up for a few of the Beach Boys guys and the Safaris.....then I got invited up on stage to play "Wipe Out" with them.......those of you that don’t know, the Safari's wrote “Wipe Out” originally. That was by far the coolest thing that I have done on stage in front of almost 10,000 people.
