Post little question here
umm hey i just changed my whole kit for the first time Very Happy
besides the snare i allready did that a while ago... well i have a question... maybe im playing wrong but its not like the head is tearing up or something but i watch alot of the heads at videos and they dont seem to have any markings of sticks on them like they havent been played at all...
and the first day i played my new toms my rack tom had markings all over but nothing was affecting the sound so its still good Very Happy
but my question is am i playing wrong? or how could i remove these markings?

same thing happens to most of us im pretty sure. i think its just the coating from the snare leaving white coating in the sticks then transfering to the clear heads. could be wrong though

Also if you make more of a "swiping" motion when you hit the head it will leave more marks...

if you watching pro drummers, there drum heads get changed all the time showly maybe or over a week of shows. but usually by the end of the show there'll be tonnes of marks. depending on sticks used nylon tips will leave more white marks on your drum heads than say natural wood tips. yeah heads get scuffed but thats all wear and tear of drumming. i wouldnt worry about it.

bass drum heads can last a long time for me its usually every 6months it needs to be changed. tom i change usually every 3 months top, snare i change nearly every 3 weeks or month tops. depends how much you play/practice.

oh final word. scuff marks are grand but if there are dents from constant playing in the same zone on the drum head i recommend changing asap! you'll get more resonance from the head.

bass drum lol mine i think will last forever....
i dont see any marking or nothing i have a padded beater so it sounds more like a soft mallet hitting a clear head it sounds beautifull Crying or Very sad

my snare head only needs changing every 2-3 months or so, but i dont play that hard so it all depends on how you play and how often

I was gonna ask if you play with nylon tips, as they will leave more marks. Like said before, marks are ok, dents are no good.
