 Metal bands or rock bands?
I'm curious to know if there are more metal drummers than anything else, so reply people!

not into metal myself. im in a band that plays heavy rock( not into heavy rock either) and we do some metal songs but i dont sit at home and listen to metal or sit behind the kit and play along to it. I'd actually even perfer not to play double kick and just focus on the hi hats more spicing up the music that way. but thats just me, i know everyone has their preference of genre. im a funk / fusion guy myself. i dont know why. its just what i enjoy playing. but then again, we as drummers cant limit ourselves to one genre. the more influence of all styles we have, the better musicians and writters we can become.

Yep, metal it is. Although, if you listen to my band you wouldn't find it typically a metal band at all. I like to think I bring that to the band though.
I reckon nothing requires more energy, endurance, speed, stamina, coolness, and pure testosterone fueled aggression than metal does. This is good in life.

I mainly play Hardrock/ Progrock, so...
"Old School" - Metal, perhaps?
Definately "Rock" in the heavier end of it!
But "Metal".
Not in the terms of today, I guess...

 Most everything but metal.
Strongdrummer, you are probably right. But nothing feels better to me than sitting down in the pocket and grooving all night. So, I guess neither rock nor metal. Much more so for funk and R&B for me.

Im with mcneal on this one. Seeing the crowd beat each other up the whole night is kinda funny but i'd fuel more off of just a crowd dancing and having fun. once again. its only my preference. not saying any genre is better than any other one.

I play in a rock and have a great time performing but I really enjoy playing the aggressive metal songs during private practice.

 yep
i play everything, im in a metal band and i enjoy it but like the others id choose funk and jazz and such over metal any day becuz of the sheer fun u get with it, metal is cool and its what i play in the group but personally id rather groove, plus i see it being more musical when grooving and i like to bring that to my metal band...tis an interesting twist i think ^^

I pretty much play both prog/classic rock and metal. I also play some punk and alternative stuff. Whatever gets me going on the kit, really. I want to get into playing jazz more as it's totally new territory for me and I love listening to swing and bebop.
