So I know I'm almost a week late writing about this, but they've got me really busy at the radio station filling in for a co-worker while he is on vacation. I'm actually at work right now. I'm producing a baseball game broadcast so there's lots of time in between the commercial breaks for me to goof around on the internet. But my work's not the point. I had a really good gig last Thursday night at the 550 Blues here in Macon. We had a guest keyboard/guitar player as well as a tribal drummer.(he played shekere, djembe, bongos, maracas, etc.) So in all, we had a bass player, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, keys/guitar, auxillary percussionist, and me on drum set. We tore the roof off the joint. That was the best musical experience I've had by far. Plus I met two new musicians who want to call on me for future work. I just cannot get over how much fun that night was. The crowd there kept asking us to play more and we ended up playing three more songs that weren't even on the setlist and repeated one for an encore, which dovetailed into a short solo spot for me. I like taking about 2 to 3 minutes at the very end to solo because that's usually when the most people are in attendance. What I'd like to know is, what is your favorite/best musical experience and what made it so special? I told you mine. Now tell me yours...
