Post Need help with new drumset
Im an intermediate drummer, been playing for about 4 years now. I play basically everyday and am always trying to learn a lot of new stuff. I currently have a pearl export with a really old hi-hat/ride (the drumset is like a 96' or something, it was my brothers old drumset). Its starting to crack on the inside and ive been looking into getting a new one. I like playing pop punk, grundge and metal mostly. But I'm mostly looking for a good kit for that. I've been checking out the PDP X7 series, its a 7 piece which IMO would be a nice improvement from my 5 piece. Plus one of my favorite bands uses that drumset (Tony thaxton from motion city soundtrack).
Anyway give me your oppinion on this drum set if you know, and any other drum sets i should check out.

those mapex kits are really nice, I'd say the Pro M if you use you kit more live, and the M birch if you use it more in the studio. I Play a gretsch renown maple and a pearl export custom and i love them both, so I could also recoomend either of those.

if yours is from 96 its not an export custom, or at least not the same one that dose has. the new export customs are solid maple shells.

the x7 is a cheap set, and number of pieces is not the factor that makes the set an improvement over your current one. your best bet would be an m birch mapex set, or a gretsch catalina. both are quality sets for not very much money all considered.
