try putting some kind of rubber between the two. should keep it tight and still protect it.

Just put something softer, but firm (rubber is ideal) in between the clamp and hoop
don't order either of those things from musician's friend.. they're both back ordered so you probably wouldn't even get them until december.

i agree sadly! those hoop protectors (in my experience) fall off after a week or so.

The way I look at it, the pedal is always going to clamp onto the hoop. So, just put that hoop on the same way every time and nobody will ever see it. Drums get dinged and scratched when you gig, it's just a fact of life.

Take a good hard look at your pedal. And go buy a good one. Thats the real solution.

my old hoop is flat where the pedal attaches. i have to STRETCH the hoop in every direction when putting a new head on their. i'm pretty sure it is killing some of my sound too, i just don't want the same thing to happen to the new hoop. i know that nobody see's it, and i dont care if it scratches the paint.

+2. It's not nice when it happens, but that gouge on my tom has an entertaining tale.
