Post New Mapex Snare
The Black Panther, anyone have any input on it?

It looks absolutely beautiful, I just hope it sounds that way.

The Kung Fu? SS? Tribal? Cherry?

I like them all, but which one are you talking about?

Post I sold my Black Beauty
My band did an in-store performance at a now defunct MARS Music and they let me pick whatever I wanted to play...I chose a Black Panther Snare. I bought it before I left the store! I came home and immediately sold my Ludwig Black Beauty. I had made myself a stupid promise a long time before, that if I ever found a snare that I liked better than my Black Beauty that I would sell it...and I am a man of my word!

Post YOU DID WHAT?!?!
okay i can see you holding up to your word and i can see that you (at the time) thought you would never find a better snare. but if i were you i would have but that monster on display or something. im wierd i know but yeah thats all i wanted to say about that. As for the actual topic of discussion. i havent relly messed aroung with the black panthers yet...but would love to. so cant really help out

I have the 12 x 7 cherry black panther and my friend in another band has one he uses, sick as hell. Great sound, amazing look, I've really been wanting a walnut or possibly a ss steel. someday, someday.

Last year I brought a 14" x 5.5" premium maple shell black panther snare in black stain. its looks beautiful and sounds beautiful to. I highly recommend them, such a nice drum to play. Shop around, but they're worth spending good money on.
