 Play in a band?
Just curious to see how many people here actually play in an active band. If so what's the name or names (I know some of you guys play with more than one). What kind of venues do you gig? Do you get paid? Stuff like that. Not that there's anything wrong with hobbyist drummers, I don't disrespect any drummer as long as they are playing. I am currently recording with The StarSeed Project based out of Columbia, SC. Peace on ya!

looks like there's a lot of posts in this forum for sharing your bands:
http://www.drumsmylife.com/viewforum.php?f=10
mine is Analog Missionary: www.analogmissionary.com
we started by gigging at bars/medium-sized venues and progressed from there. Generally, there is payment involved. We're still 'independent,' as far as managing all aspects ourself, including booking- but it's getting a bit overwhelming. We also have our own studio, where we're presently recording our 3rd album, and will resume gigging across the US when it's released.

i'm in one band called Flux (www.myspace.com/arevelation)
we're an alternative rock quintet with prog rock influences and stylings. we've played at places like The Space, Webster Theater, Papa Wheelie's, The Franco American Club, and Black Eyed Sally's
i record drums every once in a while with this guy: www.purevolume.com/spherix. he doesn't really do shows.
and i'm in a jazz combo with two kids from another school. we play at a lot of banquet halls and stuff like that. usually get paid around $100 a gig.

Death Metal/Metal band called Seven Days in Darkness. We're going to be playing shows around here soonish. We've spent much time band practicing and getting all our gear together and our songs as down-pact as well. We hopefully are gonna rock some kids worlds around here because theres no good "real" death metal bands here without a chick screamer whos a B**** if you don't mind me saying.

I play drums for female fronted Scottish rock band "Stutterbunny" (formerly named Eric and the Bunny Boilers). We had our first UK indie-chart no1 in 2005 when we emerged and since then have played a lot of the top UK venues and festivals, and have performed live on TV countless times. We recently released "82" with the provocative video feat. a special appearance from the very talented Ms poledance UK.
In 2007 (after our name change) we are set for the release of our new album on a new label, and our new single "the psychopath next door" will be the main title theme for new Scottish crime drama series "Ninety Eight Percent".

I don't travel anymore, so my band does gigs within a two hundred mile radius of home. We are a rock/blues band named Double Ought.00. We usually play local bars and private parties. Yes we get paid! We're a bunch of old farts, that rock our collective asses off.

Hey, yeah, I play in a skapunk band. We're called ROLF, we're from Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
check us out at www.myspace.com/rolfdeband
we play in pretty much anything from a small bar to pretty big concertvenues.. as long as it has a stage and a soundsystem, we're game:P
we do get paid, not much, but we don't share the money, we keep it all in the band, to pay t-shirts and cd-printings and all that stuff.
I play in another band too, but it's not really out there yet, we've been practising for a while now, but haven't really been able to get actual songs and a complete band together, there's just a shitload of ideas and stuff. the music we play in kinda hard to describe. I think it's rock, but more metal and more funk and more jazz...I hope that makes sense.

I've been drumming for Bloodlogic for about five years. Currently in a transition mode from drumming and singing to just singing. Also sang for Divine Inertia, after we split, the drummer joined Bloodlogic. I hope to get us more involved with percussion now that we have two who can jam. If you tour Nashville, hit us up

Cool man! I very much agree with keeping the money in the band! That's the way it should be done. And if you can't decide what to call the music...call it creative. Peace Bro!

Im in one called From The Headline. Located out of Milwaukee Wisconsin USA. We have our debut EP releasing July 21st. We will be touring the Midwest in July and the East in August with a band on the same small label we are on called Flowers For Dorian. The Lable is called Reunion Isle Record Collective.
We have a song off our upcoming EP on our Myspace site if anyone wants to check it out. Its Indie Pop Rock. I recently signed an endorcement contract with Shine Custom Drums out of California. Check them out, they have a very good product. They put alot of time into each artists drums and dont mass produce these things so you are getting a well put together custom drumset unlike alot of these other custom drum companies that just want to push out as many kits as they can for more pocket profit.
Sorry for all my shameless plugging
