 does anyone trigger AND mic??
Is it possible to do your best job tuning, micing an acoustic kit so you get your sound, and then blend in a sample along with that to augment your sound, but retain some semblance of natural drums?
Like a halvsy approach?
Sorry if this is a redundant questions, all the threads I've read have been either triggers or no triggers; I'm asking about triggering AND micing.

Re: does anyone trigger AND mic??
most of the time, in my experience, if someone's triggering, they're probably blending that with the mic'ed sound. the only time I've seen drummers completely use the triggered sound is the kick drum, and tbh it usually sounds like garbage with just the straight electronic kick going (generally when you're talking about triggered sounds, you're talking metal players, and a cold "click" at 200+bpm 16ths can sound a little overbearing).

Re: does anyone trigger AND mic??
Interesting, I didn't know that was the common practice.
I'm completely new to the world of triggering and electronics in drums so I'm just here reading threads and trying to get a handle on it all. Thanks for the response.

If I was looking for JUST the electronic sound, I'd probably use an electronic pad.

Re: does anyone trigger AND mic??
If your're gonna trigger anything, just do the bass drums, use mics on the snare(s), toms, and mic the rest of everything else, there should b no need to trigger anything else sense it all should be mixed into proportion, as long as you have a good sound engineer, you should be fine.
