Post rusting hardware
I have an issue!!!
Due to a general lack of time, i have been leaving my drums locked in my car in my shed.

Unfortunately i noticed at a gig the other night, that the chrome hardware (gretsch purewood kit) is starting to rust on the mounting bracket and die cast rims.

any hints on how to fix it?

I use very fine steel wool (000). It will remove the rust and not scratch the chrome. I then use a light coat of carnuba wax....in other words a good car wax. This will not only shine your hardware but will also give it a protective coat from moisture and finger prints. Make sure to wipe down your equipment after every show. Good luck!

This is about the only good reason to use WD-40. Spray a bit on the spots where the rust occurs and it will help slow the spread. Once rust starts, it doesn't abate very easily.
