 Sabian AA series???
After I get my Gretsch drumset. I was looking to get a pack of cymbals. I had my eye on the Sabian AA series or the Zildjian A customs. I was leaning toward the A customs because I already have the Projection crash, I love it, but then I hear the ride isnt that great. So I would appreicate any information regarding the AA series or advice. I was going to get the Rock pack if that helps any.

A customs man..i have a 20 inch A custom medium ride..and its really really nice. You can get any ride you want. I personally would like a K custom session ride, or a K light ride. Mixing A's and K's is good too.

I love Sabian AAs... Mine are amazing... But the ride I'm buying is coming from the AAX series. I'm not a big fan of the AA rides either. The crashes are so good, I have a 16" Bright and a 17" Fast and they're the best thing I ever bought for my kit.

I do believe that this is comparison of Apples to Oranges, because the Sabian AA line is more like the Zildjian A line, not the A Custom. So if you really like the A Custom sound, you probably will be disappointed.

Try a 21" AA Rock Ride. Listen to any Chili Peppers song from the last eight or so years to hear what one sounds like.

I have a 22" Sabian AA Heavy ride and I love it. It's bright and cutting with just the right ratio of ping and wash, and when I crash-ride it to open it up it roars. I get a huge wall of sound. Great bell too!
Pretty much useless for jazz though in my opinion.
But if you like bright cutting cymbals that are not too overbearing, at least check out the entire AA line.
I have to agree as well that they are more comparable to the A. Zildjians, not the A Customs.

yeah I want a ride cymbal that isnt to loud, so I'll have to check out the AA rock ride. The HHX groove ride is way to loud for me. I should of looked more into before buying. but I'll keep it for awhile.

actually i was considering buying the Alpha series cymbal pack. but I dont know much about Paistes or anyone who does. I've always wanted to try them though. but where I buy all my stuff the Alpha series is probably the best they sell, and i didnt know if they were good, let alone what music they were designed for.
