I don't know about the Paiste model but the B8s are decent. My students have them and they're not bad. They're definitely worth the price.

I own a Paiste 101 cymbal pack and a 201 splash (both 101s and 201s are below the PST5s quality) and various B8 cymbals. All I can say is that the Paistes have a really nice, crisp, sharp sound to them. However, for some reason, and maybe this is just me, but I kinda associate the Sabian B8 sound more with heavier rock and less with classic rock/blues/jazz. So it's really up to you. I would personally go with the PST5s cause I'm a bit of a Paiste fan boy ( ) but like I said, the B8s sound pretty good too.

pst 5s sound better in my opinion. i have a pair of pst5 hats that i use for practice and occasionally for recording if i need a louder sound.
wouldn't put anything past b8s thought. they're very durable and very musical for the price. i always loved the b8 ride. mine still sounds great and two people played it heavily before i bought it in 2003.

I started with B8's , and they're okay... Why limit yourself to those 2 though?

I am in the same situation. I went to Guitar Center today and tried out some PST5's and really loved the sound of it. I was gonna just jump on the B8 starter bandwagon but PST5's are actually way better imo. I also tried the ZBTs and liked them as well, so I'm between those two. I already made the mistake of buying a B8 Hihats cause I got bored of hitting a cardboard I made and didn't have the money for the pack...
If you are only looking for 1 Ride 1 Crash and a pair of HiHat I would go with PST or ZBTs
I'm gonna buy an 18" Crash and 20" Ride
P.S I assume you are a starter like me, and if you are weak on money EBAY is your friend...You can buy everything separately there and get a better deal

What are you crazy! Pst 5's and B8's are like comparing Hondas and Fords! I own the Pst 5 China and it's amazing.
