Is it a lacquered finish? Take it to a car detail shop and see if it buff's out... it will most likely need high speed buffed possibly wet sanded.

Thats why I use cheap kits.........load in load out....load in load out....load in load out....load in load out......takes a toll on your kit

Are your drums laminated or painted?

I want some bad-ass custom drums with a sweet finish, but this is the reason I stick with my decades-old Pearl Export. At least get a set of soft bags, they’re no too expensive

If you don't know what you are doing, Do NOT high-speed buff a drumshell unless you intend on ruining that drum.

The heat that builds up when you buff it can melt the glue between plies and it settles down a bit....you are left with an annoying buzz in the shell itself.

Soft cases are where it's at. Fit in the vehicle much easier.

That just happens when you gig, man. Turn the drum so the scratch is facing towards you and nobody in the audience will ever see it. Smile

I frickin agree...I wish I had a cheap kit that looked good and sounded gret just for that purpose..It would be kinda fun to be able to just toss the stands in a bag and just toss the drums in the back and not worry about them...I layer my hardware between blankets and have to put them in the case a certain way so they'll all fit and not get all bent up and scratched..That case ways about 200 lbs when it's all said and done...Tho it does fit my rack and all hardware...As far as scratches I got one on my kick and I tried to fix it and it became worse..Not sure but you may have to live with it unless you get a real pro that works with that sort of thing..Good luck..!!

Those kinds of coffee tables generally aren't made out of plywood or meant to be musical instruments.

Depending on what color the drum is and how big the scratch is, you can use a Sharpie and hand buff it out. It's the same idea as using a paint pen to touch up a scratch in auto paint. But unless the scratch is really big nobody in the audience is ever going to see it. Even professional drummers drums get beat up from gigging.

scratches make drums unique and if you get famous and use the same drums forever your drums will be just as famous? ever seen steve vais original gem....its beat to hell....and willie nelsons guitar, trigger, has a hole in it hes played it so much. the scratches, cracks, chips, holes, and markings are all part of the image. make your drums scratches a part of you.
