that ludwig would be a PERFECT match for my set. the wood snare I play now is one that belongs to a friend's 60's ludwig kit, and it's a wood finish, so no matchy unless I'm playing it on his kit. It's kind of weird when your guitar player owns an almost identical set to your own, excepting finish. I think the one I play is 8 lugs, but who knows, senility may have set in. Strange...

The 6 lug was a "Pioneer", 8 lug is a "jazz festival". Pioneer was more of an entry level snare but it holds its tune very well and has less hardware on the shell(same shell me thinks) wich gives it a real "airy" sound. Ludwig experts correct me if I'm wronge. I have played both and enjoy this one much more.

God they all make me drool. The Ludwig and Slingerland are just awe inspiring. As for PJ's work I thought it was a DW, I have to find out now because if it's his, there goes more money.
