i have to do assignment and i was wondering if anyone could tell me a little bit about the snare drum like what it consists of ect..
A snare drum is comprised of two heads, a shallow shell (when compared to other drums) and set of wires which lie against the bottom head and take advantage of the lower head's vibrations when struck. The snares are raised and lowered via a mechanism attached to the shell of the drum called a throw-off or strainer. The wires are also attached to the oppostie side of the throw-off to the drum via a part called a butt. You could also look this up in Wikipedia!
