 speed kings for double bass?
I played a speed king once and i loved it, but i realized that theres nothing adjusable on it except the beater hight. are all speed kings the exact same or does the feel vary between pedals? And would speed kings be a good idea for double bass?

That made me chuckle
Some people swear by Speed Kings, but they also break a lot so for double bass, IDK if they'd be a good idea...

Gotta disagree, mine have been awesome so far and I've had all the top-range pedals apart from DW9000s. I wouldn't say definitely go for Eliminators but it'd be foolish to rule them out without trying them.
Same as ANYTHING to do with drums and gear, try it out and make up your own mind.

I don't have the cash flow to go spend $500 on just pedals

I use a Speed King and I think it's great, they'll work well for double bass as well. As far as the durability, I've never broken any part of mine. I have several, one is nearly 40 years old and it works just as well as my new one, never had to replace anything on it. I love it's simplicity, the only adjustments are spring tension and beater height, I never felt the need to adjust my pedals to the most minute degrees that most new pedals can. My older ones squeek, my new one is totally silent. Ludwig replaced the hinges (which was the cause of the squeek) with nylon bushings, making them totally silent.

Its funny... all this talk about Pedals and such....which ones to buy and this and that, mine came free with my Tama set.... Iron Cobra Jr. double pedal and its the best I've ever played on...and I have been to NAMM and tried everything from Axis to Gibraltar... I just found my love early on I guess.....
All I can say is try everything out.....adjust it all to your liking...thats how I did it..... you don't NEED to spend big bucks on it.

my problem with the eliminators (aside from the fact that i had two different foot plates snap in half ???!!?!??) is the removable cams tend to loosen up over time and replacement parts are a fortune from pearl. I had an eliminator basically be useless after about 6 months.
I've had the same dw 5000 for 4 years with nothing wrong with it... this is with heavy 10 month out of the year touring. Plus, i stand by DW because any minor part on there you can get from them. Pearl wanted me to order the entire slavepedal mechanism just to replace one part because they don't sell parts outright.

My first double pedal was a Gibraltar one that I bought from a drum shop. Then I got some powershifters (Pearl P122) and I've been set since.
I didn't use A-2s long enough to get used to them, I guess.

My elims were great for the 2 days and 1 show I had with them before it literally fell apart. Brought it back to guitar center, got the powerglide double, got an extra 15 bux back and bought some beer. Win/win situation
