Post Terry Bozzio Korns new drummer
So what do you all think about Terry Bozzio joining Korn? I think It's gonna be pretty cool. He's going to bring a brand new element to the band & make things a lot more technical in their music. I can't wait to hear what they come up with.

a few weeks back I saw them on (I think) the Leno show- but I can't find a YouTube video for the song. They had Bozzio onstage (almost hidden though, you could barely see him). He wasn't playing a standard kit, looked like a percussion station with cymbals from what I could tell. Also had several female Taiko players onstage, and cellists?
I believe they also have one of the guitarists formerly from Sevendust with them now- he didn't get any camera-time, but he was there at the edge of the stage.

I'm not exactly a fan of the group, but this was a pretty radical departure from what they usually do. I understand they're doing more acoustic material now?
It was quite a stage production, wish I could find a copy of the performance to link

An official announcement from the korn.com forums:

"Word is from Jonathan [Davis] that David is burnt out and taking some time off to recharge. He won't be on the album or the upcoming tour for this year. He has not quit. But now you all can. Have a happy 2007."

So yeah, apparently this is only temporary... I'm quite curious what the outcome of this will be.

Well damn, haha. Terry Bozzio is a really good independance drummer. It woud have been cool if he were the new permanent drummer.

The funny thing is that if Bozzio is just a temp drummer & David joins back later, they won't be able to play any songs from the new album since Bozzio will lay down stuff that david can't. I say, keep Terry Bozzio.

I personally dont like Korn, but if Bozzio joins thats gonna mess stuff up when there original drummer comes bag

I thought KoRn and Terri couldn't be any farther apart, until now.

I think a lot of you are going to be very disappointed if you're expecting TB to bring the "Bozzio stuff" to the Korn table. In some ways he will. He's going to be playing unconventional kits that require a lot of foot pedals. But he's not going to be the Bozzio from "Black Page" and he's certainly not going to be the Bozzio from his solo projects.

The guy is a consummate pro and I assure you he will play very much in tune with the direction of the band. He once started a band in the early 80s called Missing Persons with his wife, Dale, and many players from Zappa's band (they had a couple of hits before fading quickly). The drumming was almost straight new wave. If you didn't know Bozzio had played ridiculously crazy stuff with Zappa, you would never know he how gifted he was on most of the Missing Persons stuff.

It's sort of like Vinnie Colaiuta recording with Megadeth. Vinnie's not bringing his whole toolbox. As a drummer, he's not given the authority to radically change what Megadeth is. He played to the music and went on to the next session, just like a great pro does.

I don't think he's going to get too crazy with Korn, but he definately is gonna throw a twist into their music. I read an interview with Jonathan Davis & he said that Bozzio was inspiring them to play a little more outside the box. Oh & by the way, Terry's drumming in Missing Persons was by no means average drumming. He did some good stuff in that band.

Not to mention I also can't stand Korn... they annoy me. Perhaps since Bozzio seems more or less like a progressive drummer of sorts with all his sounds... Korn will change perhaps....

Absolutely, and I didn't mean to suggest otherwise. But it's by no means a Bozzio showcase, most of it very static time keeping. If I'm looking for a the definitive select Bozzio disography, Spring Session M is going to be down on list, at least behind Heavy Metal Be-Bop and Joe's Garage.

this is gonna cause KoRn to change direction. When David comes back, it will change again...i dont think many people will like that..
