Post the crucial 10 mins after a set completes...
i find the most crucial time to meet new people (who am i kidding, cute girls) (or guys, if your a drummer girl) who have just seen your band perfrom is the immidiete 10 mins right after your band is done....what sucks is that unless your the last band of the night, as a drummer you gotta spend the majority of that time breaking down the hardware, packing up the cymbals, lugging the kit off stage...

anyone else find themselves in this predicament? if so, any tips?

It's just part of the ritual, man. You have to break down. However, there's been nights where I just left it set up and worried about it later. Smile

I never really seem to have a problem with talking to people after I'm done tearing down. People usually find me out back smokin' the hoot.

Lord I wish I had roadies! Laughing

On topic, I find that most people will approach you, when they see you on stage, breaking down. Takes forever for me to get everything off stage cause I have to constantly stop and talk to people.

Usually the last thing I want to do right after I get done with the set is meet new people. Evil or Very Mad

this is why i hate my band

the P.A is mine
the amps are mine
the leads are mine
the drum kits mine
after a set, no joke, the rest of the band just leave ME to do the dirty work

haha people usually dont recognize me anyways. My band is full of very large men and its doubtful that anyone in the audience actually sees me much.

Half the band should breakdown, and the other half should be out trying to sell cds and merch. Thats the MOST important time for a band to make money is the 15 minutes right after youre done playing. Pick your 2 most outgoing members to get out there and sell your shit

I believe in someone else handling the merch. like a girlfriend/wife or the band's manager. Otherwise it should be the singer after the show because (s)he's got the least equipment to break down...and usually none.

I would say you need to have words if that's the case!

For the first time I actually have a band that doesn't have the one (or more) players that can never show up to load in and bails before it's time to load out
